The demonstration will see 213 female and male artists from 58 nations. There are 26 Italian artists, 180 the first participations in the International Exhibition, 1433 works and objects on display, 80 new productions. The Italy Pavilion at the Tese delle Vergini in the Arsenale, supported and promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Directorate General for Contemporary Art and Architecture and Urban Peripheries, is curated by Eugenio Viola.
The Collateral Events allowed by the Curator Cecilia Alemani and promoted by national and international non-profit bodies and institutions, are organized in numerous locations in the city of Venice offer a wide range of contributions and participations that enrich the pluralism of voices that characterizes the Exhibition.
«The Cecilia Exhibition imagines new harmonies, hitherto unthinkable cohabitations and surprising solutions – declares the President Roberto Cicutto – precisely because they distance themselves from anthropocentrism. A journey from which in the end there are no losers, but new alliances are configured generated by the dialogue between different beings (some perhaps also produced by machines) with all the natural elements that our planet (and perhaps others too) presents us with. The travel companions (female and female artists) who join the Curator come from very different worlds. Cecilia tells us that there is a majority of female artists and non-binary subjects, a choice I agree with because it reflects the richness of today's creative force.»
The Exhibition will be accompanied by 80 National Participations in the historic Pavilions at the Giardini, at the Arsenale and in the historic center of Venice. There are 5 countries present for the first time at the Biennale Arte: the Republic of Cameroon, Namibia, Nepal, the Sultanate of Oman and Uganda. Republic of Kazakhstan, are participating for the first time with their own pavilion.
