MetRSit, a Sit group company, will design i new generation smart meters for Italgas networks. The meters will be developed thanks to the "thermomass" technology which allows accurate measurements without the need for external conversion devices, as is the case now with other technologies. Accuracy is also guaranteed for a variety of uses: natural gas, biomethane and hydrogen, both pure and "blended" with natural gas mixtures.
In addition to the design, a field test phase of at least a year with the installation of 10 meters throughout Italy. Overall, the duration of the project and the tests will be around 24 months.
“This agreement represents for Sit – active in the technological components sector – recognition of the work and investments made in recent years. In fact, the Group has invested over 11 million euros, half of which in R&D alone, leveraging technology and precision as competitive factors for success", said the Group's president and CEO, Federico de' Stefani.
What is the Smart Meter and what are the advantages
Lo Smart meter allows reading and remote management of electricity, gas and water meters. A benefit that applies to both is the reduction of costs for the readings and for the contract management operations which can be carried out automatically at a distance and more frequently.
