Generali Italia, the two-day hackathon is underway

The only Italian corporate Hackathon in the insurance field is held on Thursday 16 and 17 March at the Cini Foundation, on the Island of San
George, in Venice.

Generali Italia kicks off the 2017 edition of "Hackathon Let's simplify - Passionate about Simplicity", unique initiative in Italy in the insurance panorama which is part of the Compagnia's strategy of innovation and simplification. On 16 and 17 March, at the Cini Foundation on the Island of San Giorgio in Venice, 160 employees and agents of Generali Italia will compete in the development of original ideas and projects with the aim of creating an excellent customer experience.

The Hackathon, in addition to promoting, cultivating and spreading new ideas, contributes to the change of corporate culture by favoring the acceleration of innovation processes. Marco Sesana, Country Manager and Chief Executive Officer of Generali Italia, declared: “Innovation and simplification of processes play a crucial role for Generali Italia, which considers the customer experience an increasingly strategic element for maintaining market leadership. The goal is to provide our customers with greater clarity, immediacy and effectiveness. After the success of the first edition of the Hackathon, we are increasingly convinced that the conception of innovative solutions must involve, right from the planning stage, those who put the strategy into practice on a daily basis. This year we are involving not only our people in this process, but also agents and university students, who represent tomorrow's customers”.

In addition to the 120 employees (the best profiles out of an audience of 6 candidates, 700 of whom completed the challenging selection procedure), this year's challenge was in fact extended to include 40 agents chosen from among the best talents. Competitors, divided into 20 teams, will compete non-stop for 24 hours, aimed at devising innovative and technologically advanced solutions for the insurance world, on four topics of strategic importance for the Company: the role of the agent in 'age of engagement; the insurance of the future, the transition from insurance coverage to a service that improves the customer's quality of life, the transformation of the spaces of the Agency into a place of relationship; the value of the company-customer exchange relationship to make the shopping experience unique.

At the end of the Hackathon all the teams will illustrate their work in front of the evaluation juries. The best 8 selected projects will then have to present their 10-minute pitch, according to the model of the presentation of startups to potential investors. Finally, the Generali Italia Jury will select the winner. To complement the Hackathon, Generali Italia has launched a "call4ideas" aimed at 15 students and recent graduates (18-25 years) from all Italian universities to gather innovative stimuli on the same topics on which the 120 employees and 40 agents will compete. inviting them to propose their idea on the insurance of the future. The three best projects will be awarded and the young people selected will have the opportunity to illustrate their ideas to the Innovation Leadership Team of Generali Italia.
