Chrysler and Fiat, US registrations boom in January: +8% and +29%

Chrysler and Fiat accelerate on the stars and stripes market. Last month's numbers mark the best January in recent years in the US for the two brands.

The Detroit giant increases sales by 8% compared to January last year, with a passage from 117.731 to 127.183 registered cars. For Chrysler Group, part of Fiat Chrysler Automobilies (FCA), it was the best January since 2008 and the 46th consecutive month of sales increases. The Chrysler, Jeep, Ram Truck and Fiat brands are doing well. 

Also for Fiat in the USA it is the best January since 2011, the year of the brand's return to the American market: registrations grew by +29%. The model that records the most sustained growth is the Fiat 550 Abarth, with an increase of +56%. 

In more detail, 3.222 Fiats were sold in January, 29% more than the 2.503 in the same period last year. It should be noted that 729 Fiat 500Ls have been sold, on sale since last June. The Jeep brand also did very well, with registrations growing by 38%, the best January ever and the best result among the group's brands (from 30.318 to 41.910 units).

Chrysler sales grew 2% (from 20.696 to 21.113 cars); Dodge's sales fell 19%, despite Dodge Grand Caravan's 47% jump (from 43.227 to 34.905 units); Ram Truck's sales were up 24%, with pickups up 22%, the best January since 2004 (from 20.987 to 26.033 units). Overall, auto sales fell 21% to 34.101 units, while van sales rose 25% to 93.082.
