The largest and most important event in Italy dedicated to Non-Performing Loans is held today in Venice. On Friday 15 September, the Tourist Port of Venice hosts the sixth edition of the Banca IFIS International NPL Meeting, the annual conference dedicated to originators, investors and buyers of the non-performing loan market.

The title of the sixth edition "The Marketplace - A toolkit for the NPL market" highlights how we want to explore the market from the point of view of growing transactions and tools, the so-called "toolbox" that players need for the profitable management of non-performing loans. A fundamental activity, especially in a year, 2017, which will go down in history as the year of the "explosion of Non-Performing Loans operations", as declared in the quarterly report 'Market Watch NPL - The Italian Scenario' edited by Banca IFIS. In fact, around 71 billion euros will be non-performing loans that will be sold in the second half of 2017, thus reaching the record figure of around 104 billion euro of distressed loans traded on the Italian market in just one year.

Volumes, strategies, different business models for portfolio management, skills needed to activate the right profitability actions: these will be the main topics of the NPL Meeting 2017, discussed by the most important market players. In particular, after the opening speech on the macroeconomic scenario edited by the IMF, EBA and ECB to outline their positions as market regulators; to follow, investment funds (Cerberus, Algebris and Bayview) and banks (BPM and UBI) will discuss the opportunities and challenges that the market presents in buying and selling, taking into account regulatory variables.

During the day, other protagonists of the market will take turns such as Arrow Global, Zenith, Lindorff, Gextra, Bain Capital and Acquileia Capital. Also present were the banks, with a discussion at the top between the Chief Executive Officers, who will outline the strategies of their institutions: Banco BPM (Giuseppe Castagna), BPER (Alessandro Vandelli), Quaestio (Paolo Petrignani), Banca IFIS (Giovanni Bossi). Finally, a round table that will host HR specialists from consulting and executive research companies and banks, dedicated to the necessary skills and training - increasingly important but difficult to find - in the management of NPLs also in the HR area, with the participation of companies such as Egon Zehnder, Spencer Stuart and Unicredit. During the day, to the interested press, a presentation of the special edition of the Market Watch NPL will be dedicated, drawn up specifically for the Meeting.
