Alibaba does it: the IPO reaches 25 billion and marks a new record

The decisive step for the Chinese e-commerce giant came with the exercise by subscribers of the greenshoe option, which brought the total amount of the offer from 21,8 to 25,03 billion dollars, in addition the previous record of the Agricultural Bank of China (22 billion).

Alibaba manages to grab the record: it's his the richest IPO of all time. After Friday's triumphant landing on the New York Stock Exchange, the decisive step for the Chinese e-commerce giant came with the exercise by subscribers of thegreenshoe option, which gives you the option to buy more stocks if demand is very strong. 

According to the Wall Street Journal, more have been bought 48 million Ads, or “American depositary share”, securities denominated in dollars of foreign companies listed on the American market.

Thanks to the exercise of the greenshoe, the total amount of the offer has risen from 21,8 to 25,03 billion dollars, a peak never touched before. The previous record of the Agricultural Bank of China, stuck at 22 billion, was therefore swept away.

Following Alibaba's listing were Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley and Citigroup. On the first day of trading, Alibaba's stock gained 38% to $93,89 per share, versus a placement at $68. In the pre-market on Wall Street, Alibaba is currently down 1,66%.
