Departures for the bridge of the 2 June: it is estimated that 92,4% of Italians will remain in Italy for the long weekend that includes the Republic Day. Around 14,9 million people will be travelling in total: according to data provided by Federalberghi, travel will translate into a 7 billion turnover. June 2nd long weekend departures: how much will it cost Italians?
The investigation identifies a average per capita expenditure of 470 euros which includes travel, accommodation, food and entertainment. The turnover is expected to be even higher, but the sample of interviewees says they necessarily took into account the general increase in prices during the period.
The Republic Day thus establishes itself as once again a strong economic engine of the country, attributing strong growth to the tourism sector.
Departures: dates, traffic and means of transport
For 60,3%, the 30st May is the date that will see the majority of Italians departing, followed by Saturday with a percentage of 34,3% of those interviewed stating May 31st as the date to start their trip. According to various estimates, the average stay is 3,6 days. The survey shows that 2 out of 4 Italians will travel with their own car.
Where Italians will stay and the main destinations
Estimates indicate that 41,1% will go to seaside locations, while 27,8% will choose the art City. As for accommodation, 24,4% have booked hotels, 24,2% will stay at relatives' or friends' houses, followed by 22% bed & breakfasts and 15,2% who will go to their own homes.
However, not everyone will leave and among the reasons for not taking a holiday, 35,6% of those interviewed are not leaving for economic reasons while 21,9% are not leaving for family reasons.
Fs: 7 million for bookings until June 3rd
Close to the June 2nd bridge is the FS group to let it be known that approximately 7 million people have chosen or will choose the train to travel during the long weekend, from the 30 May to the 3 June: to drive bookings for the medium and long-distance trains are the art City and seaside destinations, in particular Rimini, Riccione, Termoli, Lecce e Salerno.
