They arrive new resourcesand for the development of the Italian railway network. With the 2025 update of the 2022-2026 Mit-Rfi Program Contract – Under the Investments section, approximately 4 billion euros have been allocated to continue the plan to modernize, upgrade, and develop the national railway infrastructure.
The update of the agreement between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport e Italian Railway Network (FS Group) completes the administrative process required by law, after reporting to CIPES, and allows new resources to be made available for planned network interventions.
I funding will serve to support the works already started, guarantee continuity to the construction sites and strengthen the investment programmes connected to the Pnrr, at a key moment in the transformation of the Italian railway system.
The overall package includes 1,7 billion euros of earmarked resources, earmarked for specific interventions required by laws and agreements, including those related to the Flood Decree, the A22 funds, the continuation of public works, and price adjustments, as well as the POR Sicily and Calabria programs and agreements with local authorities. In addition, €2,2 billion has been allocated by the 2025 Budget Law to further support the investment plan. Of this amount, €1,1 billion will be used for ongoing interventions and the continuation of infrastructure programs, while another €1,1 billion will be allocated to cover residual needs and the increased costs of NRRP investments.
