Un decree law to deal with the issue of exodus persons. Everyone, not just the 65 thousand "safeguarded". After days of battle with the trade unions and INPS, the Government could choose this path in order to ease tensions in the centre-left, particularly in the Democratic Party, and facilitate Parliament's go-ahead for labor reformpresented instead in the form of a bill.
Prime Minister Mario Monti explicitly said on Saturday that it was essential for the Executive to arrive at the European summit on 28 and 29 June with the approval of the Fornero package already in his pocket. In this sense "there are no procedural or regulatory obstacles", underlined the Speaker of the Chamber, Gianfranco Fini. The question is only political. And to achieve the goal it now seems mandatory to solve the exodus problem as an intermediate step: nearly 400 workers (according to the controversial Inps document revealed in recent days) who, due to the pension reform, risk finding themselves without salary or social security allowance in the next two years.
To suggest the way to the Government was Dario Franceschini: "I think that an agreement between the Government and political forces for a faster process - said the president of the democratic deputies -, the bill could be helped not by a commitment but by a decree to resolve the exodus issue".
Meanwhile, the Professor assured that "the Government will carry out a survey of the real number of displaced persons as soon as possible. The figures at the beginning indicated 50 units and for greater certainty, 65 were taken into consideration. However, the Government is always aware of the existence of other cases and I say that I feel the commitment to have a realistic survey of this phenomenon as soon as possible and to take the consequent measures". So urgent that they could arrive as early as the week.
