Il Italian trade balance in July is equal to +4,5 billion euros: positive results were recorded both in trade with EU countries (+2,7 billion) and with non-EU countries (+1,8 billion). The figure, reports Istat, is the highest since 1998.
in first seven months of the year, the trade balance, supported by the strong surplus in trade in non-energy products (+41,9 billion), was positive by 4,4 billion. Capital goods assets contribute almost 70% of the surplus recorded for products other than energy.
Again with regard to July, Istat notes a cyclical increase both for imports (+2,9%) and for exports (+0,3%). The increase in exports is explained by the growth in sales to EU countries (+0,8%), while exports to non-EU countries decreased slightly (-0,3%). The increase in sales of capital goods (+2,3%) is particularly significant.
The growth of imports, on the other hand, involves both areas of trade: +3,6% for EU countries and +2,1% for non-EU countries. Significant increases are recorded for capital goods (+5,5%) and intermediate products (+4,4%).
In July, the tendential increase in the value of exports (+4,3%) derives from increases both in average unit values (+3,8%) and, to a lesser extent, in volumes (+0,5%). The tendential reduction in the value of imports (-4,3%) is determined by a significant decrease in volumes (-7,0%), while the average unit values recorded an increase of 2,9%.
