For the first time in history, even the small municipality of Monterosso al Mare, 1.400 souls in the Cinque Terre Park, will be reached by Frecciarossa. And not just any Frecciarossa: the Frecciarossa 1000, the latest generation that connects the two capitals of the country, Rome and Milan, and which starting from 15 June will "deviate" twice a day (once up, once down). from the usual trajectory on the Florence-Bologna axis for reach a number of tourist locations on the Tyrrhenian coast, between Liguria and Tuscany. The news was announced by Trenitalia in view of the entry into force of the summer timetable, from mid-June, but it will not be the only one: this is in fact a particular summer, it is the post-lockdown summer, it comes after months in which the Italians were forced at home and now they can't wait to travel back to their own country.
And for now they can only do that, that is, travel within the home, but this will remain the preferable solution, for a number of reasons (economic, safety), even later, even when the airlines resume flying at full capacity. To relaunch domestic tourism, considering above all that very few foreigners will arrive, Trenitalia is therefore preparing a plan that connects even the most remote destinations, and which enhances the routes for seaside and mountain resorts. In fact, summer 2020 will see the mountain boom, where it is easier to respect social distancing: this is why, according to what FIRSTonline has learned, from mid-June the axes to and from Piedmont and to and from Bolzano will be strengthened, in the latter case not only in the section towards Rome, but also in the one towards the Adriatic coast.
Meanwhile, a small revolution is already about to take place on the Tyrrhenian coast. From June 15, the Frecciarossa 1000 departing from Milan at 13.10 and expected to arrive in Rome at 20.03, will stop in the order in Pavia, Genoa Piazza Principe, Genoa Brignole, Santa Margherita, Rapallo, Sestri Levante, Monterosso (Cinque Terre), La Spezia, Forte dei Marmi, Viareggio, Pisa, Livorno, Campiglia M.ma, Grosseto – Orbetello (Argentario), Capalbio and Civitavecchia. Reverse route with departure from Rome at 16.57, to arrive in Milan Central Station at midnight. The destinations are those indicated, therefore FrecciaLinks are not envisaged to take travelers from Orbetello to Port'Ercole or Porto Santo Stefano, for example. Trenitalia has also made it known that the prices, on all routes and for the whole season, they will not increase for all fares, even if inevitably, having fewer seats available in the carriages, it will be more difficult to find seats at discounted rates.
