Ford, second quarter: -7,7% profit, +13% revenue

The American automaker reports an increase in sales in the April-June period, which reach 35,5 billion dollars. But due to the increase in costs, profit amounted to 2,4 billion, down on the previous year's figure.

Ford Motor reported second quarter 2011 results. Net income was $2,4 billion or 59 cents a share, down 7,7 percent from a year earlier. The increase in costs for the development of new products and raw materials weighed on the company's accounts. Revenues amounted to 35,5 billion, an increase of 13% compared to the second quarter of 2010. The group closed the second quarter with liquidity amounting to 22 billion, up by 700 million compared to the date of March 31st.

 

“We delivered very strong second quarter results as we managed to grow the business globally and reach more and more customers in each region – said the CEO of the Dearborn, Michigan house Alan Mulally – despite a macro environment that remains uncertain , we have strengthened our balance sheet and continue to invest in the future”.
