Latest fashion rosé wines: the best 50 top wines of Italy in the online guide

Rosé wine is increasingly conquering the Italian and international wine scenes. Waiting to get to know the best rosé wines in the world with the World Championships which will take place preliminarily in L'Aquila from 4 to 6 June, the ranking of the Italian ones arrives. The Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo DOC 2019 by Valentini and the “Annamaria Clementi” Franciacorta Rosé Riserva Extra Brut DOCG 2011 by Ca' del Bosco are respectively the best still rosé wine and the best rosé bubbly in Italy of 2021. This is stated by 50 Top Italy Rosé, a newborn online guide edited by Adele Elisabetta Granieri and Chiara Giorleo under the brand name 50 Top, an editorial project that has garnered great acclaim in recent years thanks to the rankings in the world of pizzerias and restaurants. This success is also due to the evaluation criteria that now represent a sort of trademark that distinguishes all the Top 50 guides.

The awards ceremony, conducted by Vino.tv wine influencer Chiara Giannotti, took place online from the island of Procida, the Italian capital of culture 2022.

On the podium, for the still wines category, behind the iconic Valentini label, Stefano Amerighi's "Syrah Rosa" Toscana Rosato IGT 2020 and the "Grayasusi" (Silver Label) Calabria Rosato IGT 2020 from the Ceraudo company were positioned . While, among the bubbles, behind the masterpiece produced by Ca' del Bosco, the "Giulio Ferrari" Riserva del Fondatore Trento Doc Rosé Extra Brut 2008 by Ferrari and the "Farfalla" Noir Collection Rosé Spumante MC Extra Brut by the cellar Ballabio.

There are also several special prizes awarded. The DS Glass Award Cellar of the Year 2021 went to the Letrari company, in the standings with its Trento Doc Talento Rosé Brut 2018 (in 7th place among bubbles). The Oleandri Resort Award News of the Year 2021 to Ca' di Rajo Prosecco Rosé Treviso Doc Brut. The Municipality of Procida Award Meritorious of Rosato 2021 at the "Five Roses Anniversary" Salento Rosato IGT 2020 by Leone De Castris. The Vinolok Award for Innovation and Environmental Sustainability 2021 to Barone Pizzini's Franciacorta Rosé Docg Extra Brut 2016. DS Glass Award Innovative Communication 2021 to Donnafugata's “Rosa – Dolce&Gabbana Limited Edition” Sicilia Rosato DOC 2020. Finally, the Vinolok Award Best Design 2021, which went to the "Vetere" Paestum Rosato IGP 2020 of San Salvatore.

An acknowledgment that deserves a separate mention, as design is a decisive factor in the success of a wine, especially in rosés. For this reason, a special jury composed of three important experts in the field assigned it: Vincenzo Russo (PhD and Coordinator of the Neuromarketing Research Center of the IULM University), Cesare Cunaccia (Writer journalist and brand consultant) and Giampiero Panepinto (architect). To whom was also entrusted the task of evaluating the design aspect of the labels in the competition, contributing with their judgment to the final score.

The big news in the wine world is certainly that of Prosecco Rosé DOC. Pinot Noir pairs up with Glera, adding all the charm of pink nuances to the already irresistible appeal of Italian style and giving life to a product ready to invade international markets.

However, the whole national territory is represented by the 100 total labels present in the two rankings, with a clear difference between the origin of still wines and that of bubbles. In the first case, in fact, most of the companies are based in the Centre-South and in particular in the areas that have historically been dedicated to the production of rosés. Puglia and Sicily first (both present with 8 labels), then Calabria (7), Campania (6), Abruzzo (5), Tuscany and Piedmont (3), Alto-Adige, Veneto and Lombardy (2), Basilicata, Umbria , Liguria and Friuli Venezia Giulia (1). In the case of bubbles, on the other hand, the North dominates, with its renowned sparkling wine denominations: Lombardy (with 15 wines all from Franciacorta and Oltrepò Pavese), Trentino (12, all Trento DOC), Piedmont (8, mainly Alta Langa), Veneto (7, as mentioned with the novelty of Prosecco Rosé), then Emilia Romagna and Sicily (3), Puglia (2).

“The overall level – underline the two curators – is certainly very high in both categories. That of rosés is a rapidly growing sector, which in recent years has recorded very interesting sales volumes. A typology which, despite being often underestimated by official critics, enjoys particular appeal in the average consumer range, thus leaving the circle of wine enthusiasts. This is the reason for this new guide which, like all the projects that are part of the 50 Top brand, aims to address buyers directly and be immediately usable for readers".
