Usa, employment restarts: +223.000 jobs, unemployment down

The United States created 223.000 jobs in April. The unemployment rate fell to 5,4%. The figure is in line with analysts' expectations.

The drop in the unemployment rate reflects positive factors such as the increase in the labor market participation rate, which rose to 62,8% from 62,7% in March. And it is approaching the target that the Fed believes is full employment, i.e. a rate between 5 and 5,2%. In April Salary growth remained limited, with an increase in hourly wages of 0,1% compared to March and 2,2% compared to April 2014. The average number of hours worked per week was 34,5. The Labor Department revised downwards the March figure, when 85.000 jobs were created, the lowest increase since 2012.

The unemployment rate in the United States fell 5,4% in April to its lowest since May 2008, before the financial crisis and the inauguration of US President Barack Obama.
