For those who want to install a charging station for electric cars at home, a new opportunity is coming. From 12:00 PM on September 22, 2026 it will in fact be possible to present the application for the home charging station bonus, the measure from the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy designed to support the purchase and installation of private charging infrastructure. The contribution, part of the multi-year program for the automotive sector, provides €68 million through 2030.
The bonus covers 80% of the costs incurreda limit of 1.500 euros for each individual. For interventions carried out in the common areas of buildings condominiumsinstead, the the ceiling rises to 8.000 eurosA measure that aims to make home charging more accessible and, at the same time, support the spread of electric mobility.
2026 Charging Station Bonus: When and How to Apply
The window for submitting requests opens at 12:00 on September 22, 2026 and will remain open until 12:00 on January 31, 2027The application must be submitted online through the Invitalia IT platform, which manages the measure on behalf of the MIMIT. To access it, you will need to use SPID, CIE, or CNS; once logged in, you can fill out the electronic form by following the wizard.
The grant covers the purchase and installation of the new charging infrastructure, including any expenses necessary to make the installation possible. Eligible costs include electrical systems, strictly necessary construction work, and monitoring systems and devices. Eligible expenses also include design, construction management, safety, and testing, as well as the costs of connecting to the electricity grid through the activation of a new Pod, that is, the point where electricity is collected.
Charging station bonuses: what are the conditions?
To obtain the contribution it is necessary to respect some condizioni. First of all, the payments they must be traceableExpenses incurred through untraceable means are not eligible for the bonus. Furthermore, the charging infrastructure must be brand new.
Specific measures are also foreseen time windows for installationsFor 2026, infrastructure completed between June 26 and December 31, 2026, is eligible for funding. For the years 2027, 2028, and 2029, installations completed between January 1 and December 31 of the respective years will be considered. Finally, for 2030, the eligible period will be between January 1 and March 31, 2030.
