Tronchetti: "China is a great opportunity for Made in Italy"

“China, which is becoming the largest market in the world, can be a great opportunity for Made in Italy”. This was underlined by Marco Tronchetti Provera during the third Italy-China Business Forum which was held at Villa Madama in Rome and which was opened by the two foreign ministers, Paolo Gentiloni and Wang Yi. "In particular - said the president of Pirelli who is also chairman of the Business Forum - Chinese attention is paid to quality and high-tech products to increase internal consumption and Italy is the ideal partner in this with valid brands in every area". On the Chinese side Wang Yi, after specifying that China has a potentially large market four times that of the United States, reiterated that Beijing considers Italy one of its most important partners in Europe: "with Rome there are no unresolved issues or contradictions in their respective fundamental interests”.

Tronchetti, in turn, added that this is precisely the aim and meaning of the Forum: to increasingly help mutual understanding, promote access to markets and present their priorities and interests in such a way that entrepreneurs can find this area opportunities to do concrete things”. As for the current slowdown in Chinese GDP growth, which still remains at dream levels for Europeans, the number one of Bank of China, Tian Guoli, advised entrepreneurs to "think with a long-term perspective because the economy Chinese no longer aims for speed as before, but places more emphasis on the quality of development. This is why there will be more and more opportunities for Italian companies”. Beijing's interest in Italy which – Tronchetti said – has also been concretely demonstrated recently with the decision to open the first European office in our country by Alibaba, the Chinese global e-commerce giant.
