Bribes: Finmeccanica CEO Giuseppe Orsi investigated

Giuseppe Orsi, chairman and chief executive officer of Finmeccanica, was registered in the register of suspects by the Naples prosecutor's officeThe Neapolitan prosecutors who are conducting the investigations hypothesize the crimes of international corruption and money laundering.

Before arriving at the top of the holding company (where he replaced Pier Francesco Guarguaglini a few months ago), Orsi had been CEO of Agusta Westland, controlled by Finmeccanica. Orsi's name was first mentioned by Lorenzo Borgogni, former director of external relations at Finmeccanica, who had spoken to the magistrates of a suspicious contract concluded in 2010 by Agusta Westland with the Indian government for the sale of 12 helicopters.

According to the indictment, they would have been paid as part of the agreement bribes to political exponents of New Delhi and of Italian parties, in particular of the League. Subsequently, the Northern League supported Orsi's candidacy for the position of CEO of Finmeccanica.

In detail, Borgogni spoke of a bribe from 10 million eurohis statements would have found the first evidence during the searches carried out two days ago in Lugano in the home and offices of Guido Haschke, a consultant in the matter in question and already under investigation by the prosecutors responsible for the investigation: Vincenzo Piscitelli, Francesco Curcio and Henry John Woodcock.

In any case, Borgogni's words are evaluated with caution by the investigators, considering that his departure from the company came precisely following disagreements with Orsi himself.
