Enav awarded for sustainability. The company that manages civil air traffic in Italy in fact, it took home the BBS (Social Balance Library) award for the path it has been able to develop in the protection of the environment and the initiatives aimed at reducing Co2. Among these, the so-called Free Route, an innovative procedure that guarantees aircraft fly on direct routes saving fuel and reducing CO2 emissions. In fact, in 2019 alone, airlines saved 53 million kg of fuel in Italian airspace due to lower emissions equal to 167 million kg of CO2. The BBS award is aimed at enhancing the positioning and vision of companies on sustainability.
The air transport sector is going through one of the most difficult moments in its history. But it is also, and perhaps above all, in these moments that a company must not waive its responsibilities and values. To deal with the Covid-19 pandemic, Enav has developed a contingency plan to ensure the health of its operating personnel without impacting the continuity of service by creating alternating and interchangeable shifts, managed in total safety. For all administrative staff, he immediately activated it smart working and online communities to keep the human relationship between colleagues alive. All while maintaining 100% pay for all employees.
The pandemic emergency has not interrupted the sustainability path and ESG initiatives of the Enav Group which in recent years has been focused not only on the development of high-tech projects, with direct consequences in the reduction of Co2 emissions by carriers but also in initiatives aimed at reducing direct emissions to a minimum (the company has set a goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2022), in the elimination of single-use plastics, in the use of electric cars and in welfare projects aimed at improving the relationship between people's work and private life.
Furthermore, to contribute to the fight against Covid-19, Enav supported the Lazzaro Spallanzani National Institute for Infectious Diseases and the Civil Protection Department with direct donations.
