Public appointments, the Cgil protests against the entry of a Casapound candidate into the Enea board of directors: "A slap in the face to the scientific community"

Minister Pichetto Fratin makes the nominations for the top of ENEA and the Cgil protests against the very political choice of candidates because "in the ENEA Board of Directors, the minister has chosen the regional secretary of the League in Sardinia and a former Casapound candidate. It took almost eight months – says a press release from FLC Cgil – and since November 5th of last year ENEA has not had a President and Board of Directors”.

"Well, after eight months," the union note continues, "what we would have expected was certainly a Board of Directors that was up to the tasks assigned to the Institution, tasks that are crucial for the future of Italy. Not only do we express bitterness because this is not the case, but we also shout out our anger at the absurd presence of some members who represent a a slap in the face to the scientific community of the Institution. The new Board of Directors of ENEA is the plastic expression of a logic of division of the forces of the current government majority, through which individuals are placed who respond only to the internal logic of "placement", rather than to specific skills on the main themes of the research carried out in ENEA.

In essence, the strategic value of research is set aside for the growth and future of the country, to favor the interests of a party that only cares about its own gain. Not a word about the colleague from ENEA appointed by the minister to the Board of Directors of the institution, because we do not express judgments on colleagues and anyone who has contributed, with his work, to the growth of the institution. Joime, a professor at the private Marconi University, a candidate in the European elections on the lists of Casapound, an organization openly of neo-fascist inspiration. Some time ago the government had tried to "place" him as Head of the Grosseto University Campus (city governed by the centre-right), an operation that failed due to the “sacrosanct” opposition of the Rector of Siena, on which the Grosseto hub depends”.

The Cgil's revolt does not only concern the nomination of Joime, but also that of Ennas, "regional secretary of the League, former regional councilor of Sardinia not re-elected in the last elections" and expression of a political party "that denies climate change and the urgent need for an energy transition and industrial production.”
