"Seconds out": the Italian regions compete on TV on art, landscape and cuisine

Thirty bets up Alma TV (channel 65 of digital terrestrial) conceived as a challenge between the Italian Regions with blows of excellence of the agri-food and food and wine heritage with particular attention to landscape, historical and artistic beauties of our country.

The new Smart People FLM Communications format that every evening, from Monday to Friday, at 23.00 pm, will see chefs from all Italian regions cross the boxing gloves in a real championship of national cuisine. In summary, a mix of some of the great passions of Italians: good food, challenges and parochial cheering.

In the center of the ring, leading the dance, Andrea Fragasso, well-known radio and television host, e Clare Giannotti, communicator, wine writer and professional taster.

Il format, conceived by Stefano Carboni, expert in agro-food and food and wine communication, with the collaboration of Simone Bordonaro's texts, he will not only see food products and great wines as protagonists but will also focus the spotlight on the artistic and landscape beauties of our peninsula. A journey through the beauty and goodness of Made in Italy, with the culinary challenge as a common thread but with precise rules. Each episode will see the challenge between two regions, each of which will present its dish, paired with a wine.

“Respect for typicality, the ability to use as many ingredients as possible from one's own territory, the ability to tell the dish but also one's own region – explains Andrea Fragasso – These are some of the elements that the juries will have to evaluate to decree the winner, in a competition that is designed like a tennis scoreboard, with a first round and then round of XNUMX, quarters, semifinals and final”.

Each region presents a dish paired with its own wine

And, as in any self-respecting competition, a fundamental role will be played by the jury. In fact, each episode will see three judges at work, chosen from sector journalists, food bloggers, influencers, professional sommeliers and high-level chefs. They will decide the shift passage of the competitors involved in the challenge. While Chiara Giannotti, in addition to conducting a duet with Fragasso, will be engaged in the difficult task of finding the right match between the competing dishes and the wines of the different territories.

“A great responsibility – says Chiara Giannotti – also because the combination will contribute to the score and therefore I will always have to try to find the right combination. Luckily we are in Italy and this will offer me the possibility to choose from hundreds of extraordinary wines and labels. And it will be nice to tell about the denominations, vines and particularities of our very rich wine heritage".

Other protagonists at the center of the stage of "Fuori i Secondi" are the products of our regions. Cibò Sapori d'Italia, an e-commerce that discovers, selects and distributes the best of our country's production, has carefully chosen the excellences that will be made available to the competing chefs. Cibò's was a painstaking research work that will also offer spectators the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the national gastronomic treasures.

Furthermore, the program was able to count on important partnerships such as the one with Emerging Chefs by Luigi Cremona and Lorenza Vitali, who reported many of the chefs involved in the challenge. And again with the Città del Vino and Città dell'Olio associations, which have offered a valuable contribution in terms of product selection.

"It certainly cannot be said that gastronomy does not find its place in the television schedules of networks all over the world - underlines Stefano Carboni, author of Fuori I Secondi - It was therefore necessary another program that spoke of cuisine, products, combinations and recipes ? Yes, if we are talking about a format which, while dealing with the aforementioned themes, decides to stage not the usual challenge between chefs or even recipes that are difficult to reproduce in a home kitchen, but an absolute protagonist: the Italy of excellence and dishes that identify a territory.

So everything is ready, we start on Monday 11 April with the challenge between Liguria and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, which will be followed, over the following weeks, by the cross-overs with all the regions up to the final on 20 May.

“It will be a beautiful journey – conclude Giannotti and Fragasso – For which, as they say in these cases, we must thank all the partners and friends who are making it possible”.
