Reorganization at the top of Leonardo. Through a note the defense company announced that Leonardo Mariani will no longer share the general management of the Defense company with CEO Roberto Cingolani and "will take on a new top role within the group". According to rumors Mariani could return to lead MBDA Italia.

Leonardo: two joint general directorates arrive

The functions previously held by Mariani will be carried out by two new joint general directorates, the first dedicated to the commercial development and the coordination of business programs and entrusted to Carlo Gualdaroni; the second with a focus on Strategies, Innovation and Strategic Alliances, entrusted to Simone Ungaro. 

As part of the reorganization, Leonardo also announces the creation of a Corporate Bodies & Institutional Affairs Unit, entrusted to Filippo Maria Grasso, responsible for the integrated management of Leonardo's Corporate Bodies and institutional, national and international relations. 

"This organization surpasses the current one, which included a general co-management entrusted to Lorenzo Mariani", the group reports in a note, in which it specifies that "the new organization has the objective of ensure operational acceleration in line with the evolution of the Industrial Plan presented in March 2025”, but also in view of the EU rearmament plans and new projects on European defence. 

Specifically, the company needs to accelerate both the achievement of results related to organic growth, with an increase in the capacity to execute the backlog of orders, both the establishment of the business in the medium-long term (inorganic growth), through an ever-increasing focus on strategic alliances, definition of product strategies and development of digital technologies”.
