Fca, Marchionne postpones the spinoffs

That of Magneti Marelli will not arrive before 2018, while talking about the "separation of Alfa Romeo and Maserati is still premature"

The Magneti Marelli spinoff will not be completed within this year: we will talk about it again in 2018. This was stated by Sergio Marchionne, CEO of FCA, on the sidelines of the ceremony for the honorary degree awarded to him by the University of Trento.

“Marelli has a huge role to play”, the manager specified, emphasizing that “we need to discuss with the board. Last week we had a first debate in the Board of Directors, I think we will carry it forward in 2018 and it will be part of the plan that we will launch next year".

As for the spin-off of Alfa Romeo and Maserati, Marchionne reiterated that "it is premature to talk about it: they don't have enough substance to deserve independence", because "for technical development" they still "need FCA".

A spin-off, Marchionne specified, "maybe that it will arrive in the future but not in 2018: we cannot even say if it will arrive at the end of 2022".

In the first half of 2018, the FCA group will present a business plan expiring in 2022, which is why Marchionne indicated this time frame.
