Increase of price, introduction of dealer and strict on the sharing of Password. News coming soon for Disney Plus, the streaming platform that, little by little, follows the path already traced by Netflix. But let's go in order and start from the subscriptions. In fact, in recent days, Italian Disney Plus users are receiving emails in which the company explains that it has "updated the prices" and reorganized the offer.
How much does it cost to subscribe to Disney Plus today
Three packages offered. The first, the one with the lower rates, is the “Standard with advertising” plan for a cost of 5,99 per month. Next, there is the "Standard" without advertising interruptions for a monthly price of 8,99 euros: a figure which, on an annual basis, becomes 89,90 €. Finally, Disney Plus offers a "Premium" package (without commercials at 11,99 euros per month. The annual one? 119,90 €.
This is therefore the fourth increase practiced by the platform over the four years of activity in Italy. In fact, Disney Plus landed in our country in 2020 with a promotional price of 59,99 euros per year. A first increase of 10 euros was applied in 2021 and a further 20 euros in 2022, to therefore reach 89,90 euros. Now the new leap to 119,90 euros. It goes without saying that in four years the subscription has practically doubled: rounding up, we went from the 60 euros of the debut to the current 120 euros.
Disney Plus, advertising arrives
The other news, as we said, concerns instead the introduction, also in Italy, of advertising: it is expressly mentioned in the lowest rate Standard package, where the possibility of downloading is not provided.
Disney Plus cracks down on password sharing
And always in the wake of Netflix, now Disney is also starting to hinder the so-called “password sharing” among its users and to consequently prevent the possibility of splitting the price of the subscription with friends. In the United States a first ban will come into effect starting from 14 March, when viewing streaming content will only be allowed to members of the same household. At the moment, Europe and Italy are excluded from this crackdown.
