CDP: in 2022 70% of resources will be allocated to sustainable development goals

Cassa Depositi e Prestiti focuses more and more on sustainability. In 2022 the 70% of resources total committed by the CDP was dedicated to the sustainable development goals of the UN Agenda 2030. Exactly 20 billion out of 30,6. impact on GDP of Italy was equal to 1,7% of the total, generating 470.000 jobs. This is what emerges from third Integrated Report, published today by the Group. The resources employed bear witness to the impact of the Group's activities on the country's manufacturing and infrastructural fabric.

In 2022 Integrated Report they come, for the first time, classify the resources involved according to the four strategic challenges provided for by 2022-2024 Strategic Plan: inclusive and sustainable growth, climate change and ecosystem protection, digitization and innovation, rethinking value chains. First challenge: inclusive and sustainable growth

With the first challenge, associated with social infrastructure, CDP has continued to exploit virtuous examples of public-private partnership, such as collaboration with Local Authorities, Central Administrations and Banking Foundations, reaching use 1,8 billion for interventions construction, modernization or adaptation of over 1.600 school, health, social and student housing and cultural infrastructures. Between main projects There are “Innovative School 4.0” of the Gualdo Cattaneo (PG) school centre, certified by the European Commission and recognized as one of the best sustainable urban regeneration interventions and support for the new Social Housing – City of Stones in Matera, to help fill the shortage of rent-controlled housing in the South.

Second challenge: climate change and ecosystem protection

The second field of intervention concerns the energy transition to safeguard the territory and the circular economy. CDP has intended 4,2 billion addressed mainly to local administrations and businesses. THE projects they concern the energy efficiency of public buildings and roads, investment in co-generation plants, efficient management of the waste cycle or for electric mobility and for the reduction of the environmental footprint. 44 municipalities financed in 2022 for water network efficiency measures.

Third challenge digitization and innovation

In digitalisation, innovation and capital market, topics, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti has committed 2,2 billion. It has supported the PA in digital transformation processes, including through the creation of the National Strategic Pole which will lead by 2026 75% of administrations to use cloud services. It has financed and invested in companies with a high technological content for development. For example in healthcare it has invested in GPI, an Italian group active in the digital health and telemedicine sector. Finally, it strengthened the innovation ecosystem through iventure capital commitment.

Fourth challenge: rethinking value chains

The last challenge represents the area in which the greatest number of resources are concentrated, approx 12,6 billion. Are three sectors of intervention and are the strategic supply chains, transport and logistics nodes, and international development cooperation. More than half of the investments were intended for business growth, both in Italy and abroad, also through the introduction of the first loans linked to sustainability objectives such as the launch of the first Basketball Bond ESG, intended to finance Italian SMEs and Mid Caps. Within the scope of transport and logistic hubs it worked on 40 projects aimed at upgrading and redeveloping approximately 403 km of roads and sections of local public transport and supported 14 interventions for the modernization and safety of 7 ports. These include funding from 40 million to RES, a company of the Emilia-Romagna Region which manages over 300 kilometers of the entire regional railway network.

Furthermore, in collaboration with Bnp Paribas, Cdp has defined the terms of the “Sustainability-Linked Repo”, a collection tool in which the achievement of certain sustainability targets by CDP affects the financial terms of the operation.
