The operational phase of implementation of the National strategic pole, managed by the homonymous project company owned by Tim (45%), Leonardo (25%), CDP (20%) and Sogei (10%), and aimed at providing digital infrastructure e cloud services to the Public Administration, to modernize its IT processes, as required by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

Furthermore, “the PSN will accompany you in your migration to an infrastructure that will offer a high guarantee of data security and protection, but also greater technical and environmental efficiency, thanks to the green Data Centers at our disposal. We are ready to lead this process”, concluded Iannetti.
PSN target: 75% PA in the cloud by 2026
In detail, the national strategic hub will be crucial for achieving the goal of bringing 75% of Italian administrations to use cloud services by 2026. Not to mention that there is also an issue of efficiency of public spending: with a reduction in the costs currently supported by the PA for investments and infrastructure management, helping to increase energy efficiency, through the reduction of consumption also with a view to environmental sustainability.
In fact, the initiative envisages the creation of a dual-region architecture distributed over 4 data centres, interconnected with each other with ultra-broad connectivity in optic fiber.
Cloud: in Italy it is worth over 4,5 billion
Despite inflation and economic uncertainties, Italy continues its run on the cloud: a turnover of over 4,5 billion euros with a growth of 18%, composed of a +15% organic growth in continuity with the previous years and a +3% due to the impact of the expectations of a rise in the prices of cloud services which could manifest themselves by December 2022.
This is what emerges from the photograph taken by the Cloud Transformation Observatory of the School of Management of the Milan Polytechnic the Public & Hybrid Cloud, i.e. the set of services provided by external providers and the interconnection between public and private Clouds, highlights the growth dynamic most significant, for an expenditure of 2,95 billion, up 22% on 2021.
Alexander Piva, director of the Observatory, points out that "it is necessary to move towards a new phase of collaboration in the entire ecosystem with the participation of the various players in the cloud market with a view to economic and environmental sustainability".
Cloud adoption among large enterprises and SMEs
With regard to companies in the large ones, the adoption of the cloud is now a certainty and represents the delivery method of 44% of the applications fleet.
Also the sector of pmi, after years of skepticism, recently made a breakthrough. In 2022, 52% of SMEs will adopt at least one cloud service (+7% compared to 2021) and overall the cloud expenditure of SMEs will grow by +24% this year, reaching a value of 351 million euros.
