I new car incentives for 2024 are finally arriving after a delay of almost two months. The wait for the new ecobonuses has already had a significant impact on the market which in March recorded a decline of 3,7% after 19 months of positive trend.
The bonuses will be available probably starting from May, offering discounts up to a maximum of 13.750 euros for electric cars and up to 8.000 euros for plug-in hybrids. Eco-incentives are also provided for petrol and diesel cars. The Bonus amounts vary based on ISEE and scrapping. The maximum car prices, net of VAT, are set at 35.000 euros for cars with CO2 emissions between 0-20 or 61-135 grams per kilometre, while for plug-in hybrids the limit is 45.000 euros (VAT excluded). There's a bond however, must be respected to obtain the bonus: the beneficiaries will have to keep the purchased car for at least one year for natural persons and for at least two years for legal persons. Among the new features is also the 400 euro discount for installing an LPG system.
The new program aims to stimulate sales (in 2023 sales stopped at 1,56 million) and to renew the Italian car fleet which has an average age of around 12 years.
Here some of the models best-selling and accessible thanks to the new bonuses available in the Italian automotive market.
Dacia Sandero
La Dacia Sandero it is currently the cheapest car on sale in Italy, with a starting price of 13.250 euros for the Streetway version in Essential trim, equipped with a petrol engine aspirated with 67 HP. Thanks to the 2024 car incentives of 2.000 euros, the price drops to 11.250 euros. Declared consumption is 5,3 liters per 100 km.
As standard, the car includes automatic lights, 15" steel wheels, frontal collision warning, cruise control, speed limiter and a 1/3-2/3 folding rear seat.
Fiat Panda
La Fiat Panda, the best-selling car in Italy also in 2023, is the first on the list to be fitted with a mild hybrid engine. Its 1.0 engine is supported by a 12 Volt system which is not able to move it on its own, but contributes to reducing consumption and emissions, with an average of 5,3 liters per 100 km.
The base price of the Panda is 15.500 euros and as standard it offers 14" steel wheels, manual air conditioning, 5" monitor, adjustable steering wheel and approval for 4 seats. With the bonuses in case of scrapping of Euro 0, 1 or 2 cars the price reaches 12.500 euros.
Then in the summer the old Panda will retire and the "Pandina“, the new version will only be hybrid and it will become a Crossovers. The new version, in fact, will be fitted with a 1,0-litre Mild Hybrid MHEV petrol engine, now with a power of 70 HP, combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Although the official price lists of the new FIAT Pandina are not yet available, it is expected that i prices they will be between 19.000 and 21.000 euros, depending on the equipment. This places them slightly above the current price list of the FIAT Panda Hybrid, on the market for 18.600 euros.
Dacia spring
La Dacia spring is currently thecheapest electric car on the market, with a base price of 21.450 euros. If the maximum bonus of 13.750 euros were used, the price would drop to just 7.700 euros, making it a real bargain.
It features a massive design, inspired by that of its bigger sister Duster, while the passenger compartment is more spacious and practical. The car, 3,73 meters long and weighing 970 kilos, can comfortably accommodate 4 passengers, offering greater comfort in front. The seats are simple but functional. The version with the 48 kW (65 horsepower) electric motor is more dynamic than the basic 33 kW (45 horsepower) version. Both are equipped with a 26,8 kWh lithium-ion battery, guaranteeing a declared range of up to 305 kilometers. Thanks to its compact dimensions and length of just 3,73 metres, the Dacia Spring is ideal for city driving.
La new Dacia Spring, which will be available in Italy from the summer, should have a price of around 20.000 euros, although final prices are still being defined.
Fiat 500 Electrical
La fiat 500e, is the only electric city car built in Italy, produced in Turin at the Mirafiori plant. It has a base price of 28.950 euros. I'm getting good feedback on the market thanks to its compact size and particularly successful design. The declared autonomy is up to 322 kilometers. The May incentives will lead to a significant reduction in prices, with a cost of € 17.950 for those who have an ISEE under 30.000 euros and opt for scrapping.
Also the Fiat 500 petrol thanks to the 2024 incentives you can get it at a good price. The starting price is 17.800 euros for the 1.0 hybrid version and is equipped with a 70 HP mild hybrid system and has a declared consumption of 5,3 liters per 100 km. With incentives it reaches a price of around 15 thousand euros.
MG4 Electric
La MG4 Electric, one of last year's surprises, could maintain its appeal also in 2024 thanks to incentives. The basic version, equipped with a 51 kWh battery and 170 horsepower, would have a price of 24.790 euros without scrapping and 19.790 euros if you scrap a vehicle up to Euro 2. For those with an ISEE of less than 30.000 euros, the price would start from 23.290 euros, with the possibility of going down to 13.750 euros by scrapping a Euro 2 vehicle.
Tesla Model Y
Tesla has reduced the prices of the Model Y, the best-selling electric car in Italy and in the world in 2023. The cost of the basic version, with a range of 455 kilometers, will drop from 42.690 to 31.690 euros. The maximum price ceiling to obtain the incentives dedicated to electric cars is set at 42.700 euros.
jeep avenger
La jeep avenger it was favorably received in Italy, becoming one of the best-selling models, both in the petrol and electric versions. This is the most compact SUV in the American manufacturer's range. It features three trim levels: Longitude, Altitude and Summit, available with 1.2 petrol, 1.2 petrol mild hybrid and electric engines. Prices vary from 24.300 euros for the non-electrified Longitude up to 42.400 euros for the battery-powered Summit. With the maximum discount, the price of the electric version will drop to 25.650 euros, while the petrol hybrid version will benefit from a bonus of up to 3.000 euros, bringing the price to 21.300 euros.
Smart #1 and #3
With the end of the production of theiconic Smart EQ Fortwo electric city car, for fans of the brand the available versions are the #1 , #3.
Version #1, along with the four-door coupe variant #3, is an electric car available with two battery options of 49 and 66 kWh. Prices start from 37.548 euros (with an extra 1.000 euros for #3) and can go down to 23.798 euros with the maximum incentives available.
Opel Corsa-E
The new Opel Corsa Electric, with incentives, has a price of 14.940 euros and a range of around 400 kilometres.
It is the electric version of the popular Opel Corsa, with a slightly revised design, a digital dashboard and an infotainment system with a 10-inch touch screen. The model offers a more powerful 156 horsepower motor, a larger 51 kWh battery and greater energy efficiency. Daily management is simplified thanks to the possibility of recharging up to 100 kW in direct current and 22 kW in alternating current, with charging times of up to 80% in less than 30 minutes at fast charge columns. The declared autonomy is 360 kilometers.
Renault Twingo E
La Renault Twingo E it is an agile and easy-to-handle city car with a length of 3,62 metres, offered at a base price of around 25.000 euros. Equipped with a range of approximately 190 kilometers, the 100% electric version is considered among the economical electric cars of 2024. Available in four trim levels, the electric variant is equipped with an 82 horsepower engine. The entry level Equilibre trim starts from 24.050 euros, but with incentives it drops to 18.050 euros. For those with an ISEE of less than 30.000 euros and with the scrapping of an old vehicle, the cost would be 10.300 euros.
Thanks to the bonuses it is also possible to obtain under 20 thousand euros Renault Clio E-Tech, known for its excellent consumption. With a maximum discount and the scrapping of a Euro 3 model, the starting price drops to 19.250 euros.
Toyota AygoX
La Toyota AygoX it is the only petrol car without electrification from the Japanese company which is based on full hybrid rather than mild hybrid engines. The new Aygo Under the front bonnet is a 4,8-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with 100 horsepower and 20,8 Nm, connected to a 108-speed manual gearbox. The maximum speed of the smallest Toyota is 2 km/h, while acceleration from 1.0 to 72 km/h occurs in 93 seconds. Prices start from 5 euros with bonuses reaching 158 euros.
Among the other cars available on the market, we must not forget the new version of the Lancia Ypsilon and the return to the road oficonic Renault 5 in Full Electric version.
