Banche Venete, Viola: "Continue with the sale of shares, bad loans node"

The 8 billion substandard loans give rise to concern: "We can imagine what the impact would be if they all went into non-performing positions" commented the liquidator. Meanwhile, Pop Vicenza is about to sell the subsidiary Farbanca, while Veneto Banca has started negotiations for the sale of Claris Leasing and Claris Factor

Banche Venete, Viola: "Continue with the sale of shares, bad loans node"

Fabrizio Viola, liquidator of Popolare di Vicenza and Veneto Banca, was summoned on Tuesday morning by the bicameral commission of inquiry into bank crashes led by Pier Ferdinando Casini.

Viola declared that Pop Vicenza has already sold "listed shares for 110 million euros, and is in the final corner for the sale of the subsidiary Farbank". Banca Ifis, Creval, some private equity funds and the American company Atlas are in the running for the bank active in the world of pharmacy and healthcare.

Viola, in taking stock of the state of the liquidation, recalled that "Vicenza's portfolio of financial assets and equity investments is better than that of Veneto Banca".

“The liquidations of the two institutes – added Viola – are also in charge 8 billion of unlikely to pay loans, the former stranded ones, which will have to be managed with care to prevent them from deteriorating further".

Fabrizio Viola, before holding the position of Chief Executive Officer of Pop Vicenza and strategic advisor in Veneto Banca, was CEO of Monte dei Paschi di Siena from 2012 to 2016.

Meanwhile, the liquidators of Veneto Banca are preparing to start the sale of Claris Leasing and Claris Factor, which follows the sale of Bim. This was announced by commissioner Alessandro Leproux during the hearing before the bicameral commission of inquiry into banks. At the start of the session, the president of the Commission, Pier Ferdinando Casini, said that he had received from the liquidators of Veneto Banca the list of the bank's large insolvent debtors, a list to be considered confidential.
