Among centuries-old trees and vestiges of ancient Rome in the evocative spaces of Villa Appia Antica, Rome will celebrate the finest expressions of Italian rosé wines, both still and sparkling, on July 2nd with a tasting tour that will tour the Italian peninsula, from Lombardy to Veneto, passing through Lazio and Abruzzo, all the way to Puglia. With Bererosa, the summer event dedicated to the finest Italian rosés, conceived by the food and wine magazine Cucina & Vini, 120 labels representing eleven Italian regions will meet wine enthusiasts from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, appealing not only to mature consumers but also to younger ones.
"For fifteen years, we've been engaging with a truly large audience and have witnessed a progressive increase in the presence of young people under thirty, the so-called Gen Z," says Francesco D'Agostino, editor of Cucina & Vini. "Interest in rosé wine is widespread, and its consumption, globally, is declining less than that of wine in general (-1,7% for rosé, from 2019 to 2023, compared to -3,8% for wine; data from the Observatoire Mondial du Rosé), essentially taking over shares once reserved for red. Some major appellations are aware of this and are introducing the Rosé typology into the regulations for historically red wines, first and foremost the Chianti DOCG."
Furthermore, in Italy, the world of still rosé wines hasn't seen a process of increasing value beyond production costs, a trend typical of France; it remains in a comfort zone, an aspect appreciated by young people, as explained by a recent ISWR study on the variables influencing the global alcohol market. The research also confirms that young people drink primarily to create social situations; it's rare for a member of the new generation to taste alone. And they do so with greater awareness in their approach to the glass, another characteristic that highlights a significant difference from previous generations. In short, Bererosa, with its natural propensity for light-hearted sharing, fits perfectly with this segment's idea of consumption.
Bererosa2026 isn't just about big glasses: this Roman summer event dedicated to rosé wines will be paired with the excellence and artisanal flavors of Salumi Sei Colli, a historic Brescian brand, the event's official sponsor. The brand will be showcasing the food offerings, with a dedicated tasting and sales area where you can sample some of the finest delicacies, including cured prosciutto. Alongside Salumi Sei Colli, Sfornaio will also be serving its express pizza bianca, ready to be topped with cured meats, as well as vegetarian options! Also on the food side, there will be fried foods from La Bottega dell'Oliva Ascolana, Vitavigor breadsticks, and a space dedicated to extra virgin olive oils selected by Olives Road.
A major new feature at this 2026 edition of Bererosa will be the entertainment area, curated by Cosmic Crisp®, the apple with Celestial Pleasure! The Cosmic Crisp® team will showcase the excellence of this product through pairings and a brand-new drink list, organizing hot air balloon rides where the public can take a safe ride, and a fantastic cloud-shaped swing where guests can relax between drinks.
