News coming up for the ports of Bari and Brindisi. The Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and the Port System Authority of the Southern Adriatic Sea (Adspmam) have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen their cooperation and accelerate the works in the two port areas.
In particular, the agreement provides that Cdp "will support Adspmam by providing technical-administrative consultancy activities for the planning, execution and development of the Public Private Partnership in relation to the infrastructures of various strategic areas in the ports of Bari and Brindisi", reads in a note.
They fall within the scope of the agreement four projects: three for the port of Bari (the redevelopment of the San Cataldo wharf, the development of the tourist port, the improvement of the port/city relationship) and one for that of Brindisi (the development of the reclaimed area of Capo Bianco, formerly British Gas).
Cdp, "in line with its 2019-21 business plan, will support the Port System Authority of the Southern Adriatic Sea in all the phases that will lead to the creation of these strategic works for the ports and cities in which they are located - continues the note – from planning to execution, also passing through the planning and assignment of the works. In addition, CDP will evaluate any requests for funding from Adspmam by identifying the best practicable conditions from time to time and providing the necessary support to facilitate the completion of the related financing operations".
Secondo Fabrizio Palermo, CEO of Cdp, “with the signing of this first agreement with a Port Authority, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti strengthens its role in supporting the infrastructural renewal of the country. In fact, CDP will assist the Port System Authority of the Southern Adriatic Sea in the construction of new strategic works for the ports of Bari and Brindisi, with the aim of enhancing and redeveloping the areas concerned also with a view to further promoting tourism development and commercial. A first commitment for the growth of the national port system which, considering the strategic importance of the ports and logistics, will also have positive effects on other main sectors of the Italian economy, favoring their recovery”.
