Web tax, Mucchetti amendment: revenue of 1 billion

A coupon on 6% of the revenues of the Internet giants in Italy: this is essentially the amendment to the budget law presented by the President of the Industry Commission of the Senate, Massimo Mucchetti (Pd), to strengthen the pending Italian Web tax of a European regulation.

The amendment also provides for the obligation for banks and credit cards to report all transactions to the Revenue Agency. If the amendment is approved and becomes law, the tax authorities will be able to obtain up to one billion euros.

“It is a tax – Mucchetti explained to la Repubblica – on those who extract billionaire revenues from Italy, invoicing from tax havens, without paying taxes thanks to the possibilities offered by digital technologies: a privilege that distorts competition with Italian companies, which taxes are paid, and which erodes the tax base with which the State pays for hospitals, schools, justice, security. To understand – added Mucchetti – in 2016 Google extracted revenues from Italy estimated at 2 billion, but declared 90 million paying less than 5 in taxes”.
