VIVE (Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia): rich program for the fourth edition “Al Centro di Roma”

“Al Centro di Roma” is the event conceived by Edith Gabrielli, Director of VIVE – Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia, which will feature a rich program of conferences. Art, architecture, history, archaeology and cultural institutes in Rome, these are the themes at the center of the review which, this year, is enriched by a new cycle dedicated to philosophy, entitled "Reasons and Passions. From Classical Greece to Neuroscience", curated by Professor Francesco Ferretti.

The first event is scheduled for Thursday, January 30th at 18.00:XNUMX pm with “Making the city. Art as edifying politics” and held by Giorgio de Finis, Artistic Director of the Museum of the Periferies, which will focus on the role of art in the construction of urban space from a political and social perspective. While Thursday 6 February at 18.00, the cycle “Open Doors. Rome over the centuries, at the center of the world” begins, curated by Professor Francesco Benigno and the meeting “The Rome you don’t see. Glimpses of medieval Rome among fortresses, towers and porticoes”, dedicated to the discovery and interpretation of buildings dating between the 12th and 14th centuries, held by Professor Sandro Carocci.

What's new in this edition

This is “Reintegrations. From the deposits to the visit route”, curated by the Director of VIVE Edith Gabrielli: five meetings, with related exhibitions, aimed at presenting to the public works from the Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia kept in the deposits and now brought back to attention thanks to the impressive cataloguing work promoted by VIVE and coordinated by Professor Alessandro Tomei, Professor Barbara Agosti and Professor Valerio Terraroli, respectively for medieval, modern and contemporary art. The first meeting linked to the cycle "Reintegrations", entitled “From Constantinople to Rome: The Bronze Door of St. Paul Outside the Walls and the Fragment in the Museum of the Palazzo di Venezia” and held by Professor Alessandro Tomei, is scheduled for Thursday, February 13, at 18.00:2025 p.m., in the Sala del Refettorio of Palazzo Venezia. In the center is the fragment of the Byzantine door of the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls, depicting a scene of Pentecost, which, in line with the Jubilee Year XNUMX, will be visible for the occasion in the Altoviti Hall of Palazzo Venezia.

"Since its inception, VIVE has aimed to offer the public a cultural proposal with a high scientific profile and, at the same time, a strong informative connotation. The great success of the 'Al Centro di Roma' event represents tangible evidence of this commitment. Every week, at the Palazzo Venezia, illustrious scholars and great professionals talk about their research and their work using simple and understandable language. The event, now in its fourth edition, has thus become a regular event for residents and for all lovers of history, art, architecture, archaeology, philosophy and culture in general.” – declares Edith Gabrielli, Director of VIVE – Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia.

The conferences – with free admission until all seats are taken – are hosted in the Sala del Refettorio of Palazzo Venezia, in via del Plebiscito 118 in Rome.
