The first telephone conversation between the Italian Prime Minister, Paolo Gentiloni, and the President of the United States, Donald Trump, seems to have gone well. Based on what was communicated by Palazzo Chigi, the two would have talked about the existing bilateral relations between the two national teams, underlining the historic union made up of friendship and collaboration.

The Premier reiterated with the American President the fundamental importance of the role of NATO and of collaboration between Europe and the United States for peace and stability, in the face of challenges and threats to common security.

During the phone call, the intention to fight relentlessly against terrorism and radicalism was reaffirmed, at the same time highlighting how important it is to resolve the Ukrainian crisis and restore peace in the Middle East, in Syria and, in particular, in North Africa.

According to what was reported by Palazzo Chigi, Gentiloni would have explained to the US President the terms of the Italy-Libya agreement for the fight against human trafficking and for reception policies and the regulation of migratory flows in respect of human rights and the law in kindergarten.
