#Sommelierathome: traveling with ASPI sommeliers in the wine regions

A review of weekly online meetings to discover, region by region, the most iconic wine productions of the peninsula. The ASPI, the Italian Professional Sommellerie Association, is launching a new calendar of appointments for enthusiasts and professionals: #SommelierAtHome. At each stage, the participants will receive the wine to taste directly at home, guided by the ASPI sommeliers and by the producers themselves who will connect via videoconference.

The journey begins in Piedmont, on May 26, in the company of Davide Canina, sommelier of La Locanda del Sant'Uffizio, chef Enrico Bartolini's restaurant, in the Asti area. We start with the characteristics of Barbera to discover the differences in the various areas of Piedmont, from Langa and Roero through Monferrato, Asti and Casale, up to the new DOCG of Nizza, tasting a Barbera d'Asti that expresses the typical characteristics of the vine.

Tuesday 2 June, again at 20.30, it will be the turn of Il Timorasso, a great Piedmontese white that ages without ever getting tired: while tasting a Derthona that well expresses the typical characteristics of the area, Canina will explain the characteristics of this unique vine and its particular history, from the recovery of the vineyards of the great Walter Massa, father of Timorasso, up to the present day with the transition from Timorasso to Derthona to further enhance the territory.

The excursion in Piedmont will end on Tuesday 9 June with Il Nebbiolo in Piedmont: Nebbiolo d'Alba in hand, you will discover the different nuances of Nebbiolo from the Langa to the Roero up to Upper Piedmont, based on the climate, the soil and the processes .

ASPI's journey will then continue towards Southern Italy, this time led by ASPI sommelier Angelo Di Costanzo, F&B manager and Wine Specialist, elected Italian Sommelier of the Year for L'Espresso Guide 2014, who will connect online with the participants to reveal all the wine marvels of Campania.
