The new CEO of the Sole 24 Ore group should be Franco Moscetti, former CEO of Amplifon. After the assembly of the editorial group, which appointed the new board of directors and the new president Giorgio Fossa, the meeting of the board that should co-opt Moscetti should be held tomorrow.
The shareholders' meeting of the Il Sole 24 Ore group appointed the new BoD indicated by the majority shareholder Confindustria, which is composed of the former president of the industrial association George Fossa (new president of the publishing group), on the other former number one of viale dell'Astronomia, Luigi Fir, by the Confindustria official Frances DiGirolamo, who could leave in case of co-option of the new managing director, from Edward Garrone, Luigi Gubitosi, Giuseppina Nengano, Patrizia Micucci, Marcella Panucci, Carlo Robiglio, Livia Salvini and Massimo Tononi. Some employees, shareholders of the group, contested the new board, not considering it an expression of discontinuity.
Meanwhile, the journalists of Sole 24 Ore are on strike today, Monday 14 November, the day after the declarations of the president of Confindustria Vincenzo Boccia on Sunday evening on La7, which he indicated with the expression “tears and blood” for journalists and employees the care of the group after these years of bankruptcy management. The site is not updated today and the newspaper will not be on newsstands on Tuesday 15 November, while still today the journalists of Radiocor, the group's press agency, meet today to decide on a day of strike on Tuesday, coinciding with the absence of the paper newspaper on newsstands.
“We knew that the group's trend was very critical and not since today or even since yesterday”, reads the press release from the CDR. “Today, however, we wonder how a company like ours can be revived without high-profile choices, in total discontinuity with the past, and which clear the field of any suspicion of a conflict of interest. Nine years of agreed wage reduction, early retirements and the constant decline of the journalistic workforce and not only were not enough to bring the Group's income statement back to the waterline, demonstrating that the sustainability problem is certainly not in the component that produces the company's characteristic content and that it holds up the commercial brand of the entire Sun galaxy”.
