School reform: this afternoon the Senate votes on trust

Today the Senate will vote on the confidence placed by the Government on the maxi-amendment to the school reform, a package of changes developed by the Executive to overcome the obstructionism of the more than 2 amendments presented by the opposition. The first call will be held "predictably at 16 pm", announced this morning the president of the Assembly of Palazzo Madama, Pietro Grasso, at the end of the conference of group leaders. The vote is expected about an hour later.

However, the roadmap is subject to change, since the Budget Committee must now express its opinion on the maxi-amendment. Only after the commission's opinion will the general discussion on trust begin, which will last "3 hours and 20 minutes". The explanations of vote will follow and then he will call you for the vote.

Meanwhile, yesterday evening the Senate rejected the constitutionality rulings presented by the opposition against the bill.

After today's predictable go-ahead, the reform will pass to the Chamber (where the majority is more solid) for the final ok. The Government aims to obtain parliamentary approval in early July, in order to proceed with the hiring of around 100 precarious workers envisaged by the reform - and imposed by a ruling by the European Court of Justice - in time for the next school year.
