The exhibition is a real journey through almost one hundred years of Italian and foreign cinema history through posters, cinematographs and stills of films shot wholly or in part in Taormina.

La House of Cinema of Rome is the next venue that will host, from the 7 May to the 5 June, the exhibition The cinema above Taormina edited by Ninni Panzera. Organized by the cultural association La Zattera dell'Arte, in collaboration with the Sicilian Region Tourism Department and the Taormina Film Fest.

A festival from the silent period, when the French director Louis Mercanton he directed the first film there in 1919 The call of blood, up to the present day. The adventure of Michelangelo Antonioni, Le grand bleu by Luc Besson, The Little Devil by Roberto Benigni, The Godfather Part III by Francis Ford Coppola, Woody Allen's Goddess of Love are just some of the many films that have marked the presence of Taormina in the history of cinema.

Among the forty films, Italian and foreign, also the actors, actresses and directors who populated the sets: among the many Anna Maria Pierangeli, Stewart Granger, Monica Vitti, Marcello Mastroianni, Jean Renò and Ugo Tognazzi.

Not only characters but also symbols of Taormina: the Ancient Theater, the charm and luxury of San Domenico, the suggestive Corso Umberto and its many alleys, the Villa Comunale, the railway station, Isola Bella, Capo Taormina and the greatness of Etna which forms the backdrop for many frames. Italian posters but not only. Numerous those coming from abroad, to consolidate the idea of ​​how cinema and its advertising materials have also been an extraordinary means of tourism promotion.

During the opening evening, the exhibition will be accompanied by the presentation of the catalogue, edited by Ninni Panzera, by the projection of the montage film by Fabio Schifilliti which recounts through images the most evocative sequences of the films shot in Taormina and by the vision of the film L'altro Mario Colucci's scales, with an exceptional testimonial like Catherine Spaak, protagonist of the film together with Philippe Leroy. A 1972 film, an authentic rarity that is presented to the public for the first time, after the special screening at the 58th edition of the Taormina Film Fest.
