Rome, water: reduced pressure during the night, here is the Acea plan

The drought emergency continues and Rome takes countermeasures. Acea has decided to launch the "controlled reduction plan of water network pressures only during the night" for the municipalities of Rome and Fiumicino.

Simply put, during the night, the pressure will be reduced for all utilities, including public ones. This means that "by implementing the manoeuvres, there may be a lack of water on the upper floors of the buildings and in the hydraulically less favored areas, for which the emptying of the pipes could not be excluded with the consequent clouding of the water when it returns to service ”. This was announced by Acea in a note, emphasizing that the measure is necessary despite the repair of over 1.300 leaks.

“Despite the exceptional work carried out since May, with the establishment by the new top management of a control room to deal with the water emergency, which to date has made it possible to monitor around 4.700 kilometers of the network, almost 90% of the total, with over 1.300 losses already repaired, the persistence of an extraordinary drought (70% less rain than the average of the last three years) is gradually reducing the supply sources and requires the adoption of adequate measures to guarantee the service to citizens, limiting their inconvenience as much as possible”, explains the company.
