Advertising, Nielsen: investments -5,4% in July, but the decline is slowing down

Advertising investments remain in decline, but are sending some timid signs of recovery. According to the usual Nielsen survey, in July total investments showed a drop of 5,4% on an annual basis, but the negative balance over the seven months fell to 16% from -17,4% in the first half.

The press crisis continues, recording a drop of 24,1% in the January-July period, while TV is once again seeing the light of day after 21 consecutive months of decline, reporting a +1,6% in July, while the decline in seven months stands at 15%.

The situation of the radio shows a contraction of 12,7% in the period between January and July, against the -14,4% reported in the semester, while the Internet returns to growth after 4 months, recording an increase of 5,1%.

In the second half of the year, the situation "could slowly improve, if only due to the technical rebound", according to what Alberto Dal Sasso of Nielsen states, who specifies, however, that "uncertainty from a political and economic point of view makes further predictions are difficult”.
