Taxi protest in Rome in via del Corso against the competition bill. The taxi drivers have improvised a demonstration trying to reach Palazzo Chigi but the area is armored by the police.

Taxi drivers are asking for the removal of article 10 of the provision which introduces elements of liberalization of the sector. Firecrackers and smoke bombs were set off – reports Ansa – with the police facing the demonstrators, keeping them at a distance from the government building. Slogan against the executive, Prime Minister Mario Draghi, but above all against Uber. After the two-day wildcat strike throughout Italy the 5-6 July, discomfort returns to the cities.

Tuesday was the turn of Milano, today Roma but also Torino with over two hundred taxi drivers occupying the entire Piazza Vittorio Veneto with their cars, in protest against the competition bill. A blitz that is part of the actions of these days of strike. “We will continue like this until we have certain answers. Article 10 of the bill must be removed. We are tired of not receiving answers and we are ready to block cities". Taxi drivers on a war footing are preparing for other "surprise" initiatives, they announce. With the protest, today in Turin taxis are practically unobtainable throughout the city, including the railway stations, reports Ansa.
