Saipem will guarantee submarine intervention services for the Libya – Italy gas pipeline

we receive e we publish the following press release issued by Saipem.

Saipem was awarded a contract to ensure surveillance and submarine intervention services of GreenStream pipeline along the offshore and onshore routes at the terminals of Mellitah, in Libya, and Gela, in Sicily.

The new contract, awarded by GreenStream BV, one of the main midstream operators in the Mediterranean Sea, combines the activities that Saipem has carried out for GreenStream since 2008 regarding pipeline integrity, inspection, maintenance and emergency management services, and extends them to cover a wider range of scenarios and customer needs.

The activities will be managed by Sonsub, Saipem's center of excellence for robotics, technologies and underwater services, and carried out in coordination with the Saipem Engineering Hub located in Fano, in the province of Pesaro.

The work optimizes the integrated management of inspection data and critical parts, the provision of specialized asset integrity engineering services and damage recovery response services for a wide range of scenarios. In particular, restoration interventions in the event of damage will be carried out using SiRCoS technology, a remote repair system industrialized by Sonsub and qualified to operate in waters up to 2.200 meters deep.

With this award Saipem will contribute to manage the integrity of a subsea infrastructure fundamental for Italian energy supply with an integrated approach, thus confirming the company's leadership in the underwater dimension with immediately available and effective solutions. Furthermore, the multi-year collaboration between Saipem and GreenStream BV is consolidated, which in 2002 had awarded the company a contract for the laying of the same gas pipeline, a project with which Saipem set the record for the deepest laying with anchors.
