Fuel prices begin to rise again, with the petrol that reaches at self the maximum from October 19th, that is, for about six months. After a period of stability, the oil rally andincrease in international prices of refined products are directly impacting consumers' wallets. Currently, the average price practiced of petrol in self mode is 1,911 euros per liter, increasing compared to the previous value of 1,900 euros per litre. The companies are charging prices between 1,906 and 1,928 euros per litre, while the points of sale without logos stand at 1,897 euros per litre. The average price charged of diesel self is 1,811 euros per litre, compared to the previous figure of 1,803 euros per litre.
Self-service petrol prices: the most expensive in Bolzano, the cheapest in the Marche
The autonomous province of Bolzano records the highest price for self-service petrol, at 1,946 euros per litre, followed by Basilicata at 1,936 euros and Calabria at 1,935 euros. The Brands they stand out like the cheaper with a price of 1,886 euros per litre, followed by Veneto at 1,893 euros and Lazio at 1,895 euros.
“Exceeding the 1,9 euro threshold for petrol in self-service mode is a spring blow that we would have gladly done without” he stated Maximilian Dona, president of the National Consumers Union, noting that this increase is "alarming given that it risks further rekindling inflation".
According to the calculation of the Codacons, compared to the prices charged in the last week of December 2023, the average cost for a liter of self-service petrol has currently increased by 8,3%, while diesel has increased by 5%. This translates into an increase in spending on a full tank of petrol of 7,3 euros, corresponding to an annual increase of around 176 euros per driver, considering two full tanks per month.
Petrol over two euros per served
The situation becomes even more critical considering i prices charged on the served. For the petrol, the average price charged is 2,048 euros per litre, an increase compared to the previous 2,037 euros per litre. The colored systems charge prices ranging from 1,990 to 2,131 euros per litre, while the points of sale without logo stand at 1,950 euros per litre.
As regards the diesel served, the average is 1,951 euros per litre, compared to the previous 1,943 euros per litre. The companies charge average prices between 1,889 and 2,029 euros per litre, while the sales points without logos remain at 1,853 euros per litre.
For LPG, the average prices charged are between 0,723 and 0,741 euros per litre, while for the methane cars range from 1,308 to 1,414 euros per kg.
On the motorway the situation gets worse
According to the daily survey released by Mimit, the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, the price of petrol in self mode on the motorway rises to 1,985 euros per liter and the average price of diesel it reaches 1,906 euros. But at the end of the day the situation gets worse.

President Gabriele Melluso declared that, although many plants communicate prices to the ministry late, the latest findings show that petrol today costs around 2,4 euros per liter in served mode on various motorway sections. The threshold of 2,5 euros per liter has already been exceeded on some motorway routes, such as the A1 Milan-Naples and the A21 Turin-Piacenza, with petrol sold at 2,539 euros per liter in both cases. Melluso underlined that in addition to the increase in refueling costs, the rush of fuel risks causing cascading increases in prices on prices of transported products, including food, considering that in Italy 88% of goods travel by road.
