“Now we find ourselves solving the problems caused by others”. These are the words of the Prime Minister Matteo Renzi pronounced on the Radio 1 program 'Radio Anch'io' regarding the implications of decision of the Council on pensions. On this issue, Prime Minister Renzi wanted to ensure that "the Government will not put its hands in the pockets of the ItaliansWe won't take anything away from anyone. The Monti government – he recalled – has blocked indexing. This blockade was ruled unconstitutional." ??The grain of the sentence of the Constitutional Court, which rejected the Monti-Fornero law on the stop indexation of pensions, therefore keeps Matteo Renzi and his government on alert, called to put a patch and return the arrears accrued by millions of retirees. There are those who speak of 10, 11, even 15 billion that the State owes to pensioners as a result of that provision which led to the freezing of pension inflation adjustments in 2012 and 2013.
From the Renzi Executive there are no clear indications on the measures that will be adopted to compensate for the failure to adjust to the inflation of 2012 and 2013 but it seems that the orientation of Palazzo Chigi and that of not applying the ruling of the Consulta to the highest pensions. Therefore, as we have already said in recent days, the Government should evaluate return to pensioners the sums not paid in the two-year period 2012-2013 differentiating the amounts and so the money will decrease as the income brackets rise. And in fact, always on 'Radio too' Renzi specified that the government will return "a part of this money" adding that there is "a model to rethink, we will do it, over the next few weeks and months".
