Monti: “Now more competition, it's a social action”. The Cresci-Italia decree is underway

After the "Save Italy" decree, today the Council of Ministers approved a structural reform package for growth that affect two of the three major constraints which, in recent years, have limited Italy's growth. The measures taken aim to strike the insufficiency of market competition e the inadequacy of infrastructure. For the simplification package, who instead wants to reduce the complication of administrative procedures in all fields, we will have to wait for next week.

"Individual citizens must understand that more competition means more openness, more space for young people, fewer privileges and more merit", declared Prime Minister Mario Monti. "It is not only a great economic action, but also a social maneuver that aims to touch the three great themes that are close to our hearts: rigour, equity and growth".

Not only growth, therefore, also equity and above all towards young people. After thanking the President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, for having defined the package of maneuvers as "full-bodied and incisive", Monti quoted the national councilor of the youth forum, Carmelo Lentino who believes that Cresci-Italia is "a breath of fresh air for young people".

The prime minister wanted to underline that “for us, liberalization does not mean privatisation. What is crucial for us is not so much whether the company is publicly or privately owned, but whether it operates in a competitive environment or not”.

“In addition to the competition and infrastructure package, it has today been adopted in the form of legislative decreeDto the Minister of Education Francesco Profumo, a set of measures to give more efficiency, better evaluation and more fluidity to the system of university“, added the Premier.

"The jungle is no longer needed to make the Italian economy work", concluded Monti before giving the floor to the ministers. "The market requires giving space to territorial initiatives but above all an intense and rigorous activity of classification of the same and vigilant authorities that regulate them".

Beauty Contest postponed for 3 months – The Minister of Economic Development and Infrastructure, Corrado Passera, declared: “We suspend the frequency assignment procedure for 90 days to better define their distribution”
