Liberalisation: banks in revolt, Abi presidency resigns in protest against bank regulations

Il Presidential Committee of the ABI has resigned, delivering and delivering the mandate to the executive committee and the board. President Joseph Mussari explained that the decision was made in protest against the liberalization decree, on which today the Senate will vote for confidence in the Government. In particular, the Italian Banking Association refers to the new one rule that cancels all bank fees on credit lines. A measure that has not been modified by the maxi-amendment.

The decree establishes that "all the clauses which envisage commissions in favor of banks against the granting of credit lines, their availability, their maintenance, their use even in the event of overdraft in the absence of credit lines or over the limit of credit”.

According to Mussari, this rule represents “a fine for the banks. We needed to give a clear signal and we had to do it with the only gesture we could do, making our mandate available. We will no longer accept such an adverse attitude towards the banking industry”. The latest measure “is the straw that broke the camel's back. We want to be assessed in a more serene way, we are not the enemy of businesses and families".
