In the 2016 Italian GDP grew by 0,9%. This was confirmed by Istat, explaining that this is the highest growth rate since 2010. In the latest official forecasts, the government had estimated a lower growth rate for last year, equal to 0,8%.
On the front of consumption, continues Istat, in 2016 the expenditure of households residing in Italy grew in volume by 1,3%, slowing down compared to +1,5% in 2015. Consumption of goods increased by 1,8%. that of services by 1%.
- investments gross fixed assets were the most dynamic component of demand, with an increase of 2,9%, higher than that of 2015 (1,6%). Exports increased by 2,4%, imports by 2,9%.
La tax burden overall was 42,9%, down by 0,4 percentage points compared to 2015.
Returning to the public accounts, the report deficit/GDP it fell in 2016 to 2,4% from 2,7% (revised figure) in 2015. In this case it is the best result since 2007.
Finally, the report debt/GDP rose to 132,6% from 132% in 2015 and theprimary surplus in relation to GDP it grew to 1,5% from 1,4%.
