The IMU will weigh on homes and businesses, but above all on those who have transformed the concept of "home" into a business. They will be the hoteliers the most harassed by the new single municipal tax. The deadline for paying the first installment is approaching (click here to find out how much you have to pay, click here for a guide to filling out the simplified F24 form) and those who have a business of this type are preparing to shell out significant capital: on average, 8.405 euros. The figure was calculated by the Research Office of Cgia of Mestre, which has drawn up a ranking of the economic categories most affected by the new tax.

The hotel sector is followed by supermarkets, with entrepreneurs having to pay an average of 5.930 euros. A real blow will also come to every single industrial building, on which an outlay of approximately 4.725 euros is expected. For the artisans in the production sector and small industrialists, however, the average payment will be 2.756 euros. THE freelancers will pay 1.468 euros, while i small traders they will find themselves with an average tax of 729 euros. At the bottom of the ranking the very small artisans, who will suffer an average withdrawal of 574 euros.

“I hope that the Government will review the IMU rates for productive activities downwards – he commented Joseph Bortolussi, secretary of the CGIA -, otherwise we run the risk of many small companies closing their doors and ending up working illegally. Let's not forget that in the vast majority of cases business owners will pay council tax twice. One as first home owners and the other as owners of properties for commercial or productive use. Given the increases introduced this year, I fear that many artisans and small traders will not be able to meet even the payment of the first instalment".

The CGIA analysis was carried out by applying the ordinary rate of 0,76% (but fluctuations of 0,3% are possible at the discretion of the municipal administrations) and using the average national cadastral income. According to the same simulation, 62% of the resources that the State will collect from the IMU will come from families, while the remaining 38% will be borne by businesses.

In detail, out of a total revenue estimated at 18,4 billion euros (which excludes land, properties in the autonomous provinces of Trento/Bolzano and those with a non-profit vocation), 3,1 billion will burden the owners of first home (Equal to Present in several = 17,2% of the total), while the levy on second homes will be more than double: 8,2 billion (the 44,8%).
