ICE flies to Hong Kong for jewels and precious Made in Italy

The 30th edition of the Hong Kong International Jewelery Show was inaugurated last Tuesday at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center in Wanchai, the leading event in the sector which brings the excellence of world jewelery on stage until 9 March in a stage of strategic importance for the entire Asia-Pacific area, so as to represent the second largest fair in the world for the jewelery and goldsmith sector. Also for this edition, the ICE - Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalization of Italian companies has organized, on an exhibition area of about 1400 square meters, an Italian Collective with the presence of 148 companies of different types, from the artisan ones to the industrial ones, expression of the main Italian production districts and of a varied production of excellence.

The event is held annually and is coordinated by theHong Kong Trade Development Council in collaboration with the major local and Chinese trade associations. The main local distribution channels are represented by wholesalers and retailers engaged in direct import business while, in the shopping malls, jewelers are multiplying, offering a complete range of jewels and accessories combined with the trends and style of the proposed clothing.

Thanks to the absence of tariffs, trade restrictions and foreign investment, imports continue to carry a growing weight in Hong Kong: in the first ten months of 2012 Italy was, in fact, positioned in sixth place in the ranking of jewelery suppliers on the local market, with a market share of 5,1%, where China (42,1%) and India (15,4%). A further sign of how important it is to support Made in Italy exporting companies also through these promotional initiatives: in the delicate historical moment we are experiencing, the future of our economic system as a whole depends on competitiveness, primarily cultural, in the global market.
