Fs Italiane: revenues, ebitda and investments increase in the first quarter

Strongly increasing economic-financial indicators for the Fs Italiane group in the first quarter of 2024, as high-speed passengers grow. CEO Ferraris: “Decisive acceleration of investments”. The subsidiary RFI: tender awarded for the restyling of 17 stations

Fs Italiane: revenues, ebitda and investments increase in the first quarter

Operating revenues, ebitda and investments in strong growth for Italian FS Group, which communicated today i first quarter results, also underlining the value of 4,9 billion euros of tenders awarded in the first quarter of 2024.

The first quarter of Fs Italiane

In the first three months of 2024 i operating revenue of the FS group stood at 4,085 billion euros, up 25% compared to the same period of 2023. The growth in transport services (+177 million euros to 2,1 billion), of Infrastructure services (+160 million euros to 1 billion), Other revenues from services (+515 million euros to 616 million). 

Moving forward, with the data, the ebitda rose by 19% to 392 million euros, while the technical investments increased by 49% to 3,239 billion euros, of which 2,8 billion euros relating to railway and road infrastructure, including, in particular: the Turin-Milan-Naples high-speed line, the Naples-Bari line, the high-speed line /AC Verona-Padova is Verona-Vicenza, the Milan-Verona is Brescia-Verona and the Terzo Valico dei Giovi route. 

On the rise net financial position, reached 11,665 billion, 480 million euros more than in December 2023. 

From an employment perspective, the group's staff it grew to 93.900 units, 1.454 more than the December 2023 figure, net of a turnover that saw around 3 thousand new hires. Among the other data communicated by the Group is that of the value of 4,9 billion euros of tenders awarded in the first quarter of 2024.

Ferraris: “Positive performance in the first quarter and decisive acceleration of investments”

 “The FS Group closed the first quarter of 2024 with a positive performance of the main economic-financial indicators – commented the CEO of the Italian FS Group Luigi Ferraris – and scored a decisive one acceleration of technical investments, an increase of approximately 50% compared to the figure recorded in the same period of 2023."

“The increase in revenues – explained the top manager – was driven by the solid operational performance and the recovery in volumes of passengers transported in all business segments of the Passenger Pole and a double-digit growth in high-speed rail. The urban regeneration program of the Urban Center also contributed to the results, which in the first three months of 2024 completed the sale of the disused railway yards of Milan Farini and San Cristoforo".

RFI: tender published for restyling works in 17 stations

At this juncture, Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), the leading company of the Infrastructure Hub of the Fs Italiane group, announces that it has been a competition has been published divided into three lots from above 58 million, also financed with Pnrr funds, for the design and implementation of maintenance interventions on buildings and external areas that it will affect 17 railway yards, from north to south of the country. The works will concern the renovation of the internal rooms of the passenger buildings, the improvement of accessibility in the station through the removal of architectural barriers and the redevelopment of the external areas.

In particular, the works will affect the stations of Chatillon Saint Vincent, Donnas, Pont Saint Martin, Verres (Valle d'Aosta), Alessandria and Borgofranco (Piedmont), Romano di Lombardia (Lombardy), Merano (Trentino-Alto Adige), Longarone , Venice Porto Marghera (Veneto), Montecatini (Tuscany), Giulianova (Abruzzo), Caserta (Campania), Potenza Superiore (Basilicata), Monopoli, Trinitapoli (Puglia), Acireale (Sicily).

“We pay great attention to the stations which are the gateways to our cities – states the CEO and general director of RFI, Gianpiero Strisciuglio – Our goal is to improve people's travel experience. In the last twelve months we have awarded tenders for redevelopment works in stations for a value of approximately 960 million".
