Alessandria, of an innovative plant for the production of a new plastic material called “EcoAllene®”, deriving from the recycling of beverage and food containers, commonly known as “TetraPak”, from the name of the Swedish company that invented them, and produced by several multinationals all over the world, used for milk, fruit juices, creams, broths and vegetable purées.
In Italy, over 1 billion and 400 million TetraPak packages are collected. These containers, composed of layers of cellulose, plastic and aluminum, have so far been either incinerated or partially recycled through the separation of the three components, with high costs, large energy consumption and poor quality of the materials obtained. The all-Italian genius revolutionizes the old concept of recycling such packaging: from now on, once the cellulose, polyethylene and aluminum have been separated, through a complex process, they will give life to a new totally recyclable plastic material, EcoAllene®.
The innovation complies with the circular economy guidelines adopted by the EU Commission to protect the environment which require that every new product placed on the market is 100% recyclable. Large groups such as Unilever and McDonald's have decided that by 2025 they will only use recycled plastic in their production processes. EcoAllene® has already been successfully tested by various Italian companies for the production of materials for stationery, housewares, eyeglass frames, frames, etc.
The intervention of Banco BPM - Banca Popolare di Milano once again confirms the marked attention of the bank led by Giuseppe Castagna to companies operating in the innovation sector, with a particular focus on the "green" and technology sector. In fact, the bank in Piazza Meda has always supported small and medium-sized enterprises and works alongside start-ups that commit their resources to this type of project and contribute to the improvement of the entire community, giving particular value to the investments undertaken.
The plant, which will produce about six thousand tons of EcoAllene, will be built in Spinetta Marengo in the province of Alessandria by the company AMUT of Novara, an international leader in the supply of machinery for processing plastic materials thanks to a patent developed entirely in our country by an Italian entrepreneur and inventor.
The peculiarities of the new EcoAllene® plastic are very interesting due to the vast and stable availability of raw material, the ease of coloring and customization and the possibility of being disposed of in the same collection chain. Furthermore, being released from petroleum as a raw material, the price of EcoAllene® is highly competitive and stable in relation to similar products on the market, such as polypropylene and polyethylene.
The Ecoplasteam company is negotiating important supply contracts for EcoAllene® with some big players in the world of plastics, more and more interested in an "Eco" turn of their productions.
