Formigoni & Co rejoice over a possible victory in Lombardy, unexpected until the eve

REPORT FROM PIRELLONE – Amidst the prima donna hysteria of the outgoing President of the Lombardy Region and La Russa who compares these elections to those of '94, with the defeat of Occhetto, they await the definitive data: in the region, fundamental at a national level, they would win the centre-left in the House and centre-right in the Senate

Formigoni & Co rejoice over a possible victory in Lombardy, unexpected until the eve

Rejoicing over a draw, even if this means probable ungovernability (and perhaps a return to the polls) for a country already on its last legs, exhausted by the political class and with Europe's eyes focused on it (today, for the record, immediately spread to 300) ? At the Pirellone, in the early hours of the counting of votes in the Senate, this also happens. And to do so are the usual protagonists, those of the "old politics", those that the 5 Star Movement would have liked to send home "but who in reality - claims Ignazio La Russa - did nothing but take away decisive votes from the center-left".

And so we rejoice, in the corridors of the Pirellone, the former seat of the Lombardy Region, where now only the council groups and the press room remain. Around 18,30, the former tenant of this historic building in Milan (and then of the new headquarters, a few hundred meters further on) appears at the journalists' microphones: Roberto Formigoni, a true Berlusconi and AC Milan fan, rejoices over the "draw ” neither did the Inter cousins after last night's derby.

With the cameras off, Celeste argues with the candidate of Fare to stop the decline, Carlo Maria Pinardi, and with the Sky journalists guilty of giving him too little space. On the other hand, a few minutes earlier he had "made it up" with those of the other TV stations, where he had even imposed an incipit without questions: "I'll do the talking, then if anything, ask me questions". When the cameras come on, the smile is dazzling and unfortunately for the centre-left quite truthful: “There hasn't been the expected boom of the centre-left, nor the predicted collapse of the centre-right and the PDL. It is the defeat of Bersani, and in all probability that of Ambrosoli tomorrow (when he will be counted for the regional vote, ed) ”.

La Russa even makes epic but slightly disproportionate commemorations: "This result reminds me of that of '94, when Occhetto's invincible army was defeated by Berlusconi". Yep, defeat. Here instead we are talking about a situation of slight prevalence of the center-right in the Senate, thanks to the key regions (Lombardy in the first place), and a victory - all to be confirmed - of the center-left in the Chamber. What broke the bank was, as predicted, the movement of Beppe Grillo. “The left had the illusion that Grillo would only take away votes from us, but the facts show that he took them away too. And I, however it ends up, I'm having a lot of fun ”. Who knows if the other 60 million Italians are enjoying themselves, those who do not belong to the caste and who in all probability will be called to the polls again.

The imminent risk, in fact, is that of ungovernability. But while the former governor Formigoni at least sees it, the leader of the Brothers of Italy appears without restraint. “The ungovernability? It is a problem of the left, not ours”. No, sir, it's a problem for all of Italy.
